Join us April 30th for the 10th anniversary screening of BURQA BOXERS by SF State Alumna and filmmaker, Alka Raghuram. 

We will host an interactive reception from 4-5pm

Film Screening in Studio One 5pm

Moderated Panel Discussion with Alka Raghuram and other experts @ 6:30pm 

Burqa Boxers is an independent South Asian documentary that follows three young women in Kolkata, India, who challenge cultural expectations of femininity by training as boxers under one of the country’s first female boxing coaches. The film explores their pursuit of independence and emancipation, and the obstacles they face.
