DocFilm works to make the State campus and Bay region a center of excellence for documentary film production and culture. We function like the railroad round house of old: as a hub to and from which individual filmmakers can move as they pursue their projects, be they the initial films of a student invested in documentary production or the latest work of an established veteran of the form.
Also as a hub for community engagement, be it a documentary film festival or a master class taught by a prominent documentarian. Finally, as a hub for research and critical discourse, from conferences on the documentary form to articles and books on the cultural and artistic power of films engaged in reality. Dialogue, cooperation and support are essential qualities of DocFilm in all its activities
